Who are they?

The Gerhard Albinus Band is an enthusiastic four piece Accordion fronted hard rock band, from Hamilton Ohio since 2021.
Delivering high energy music that is fueled by “in the pocket” pulsing grooves!
All are seasoned musicians with fantastic chemistry!

What do they sound like?

The music leans mostly towards Alternative Hard Rock stylings of today and yesteryear.
From the quietest understated note to the loudest, every note has groove, feeling, purpose, and thrust!

Elements of hard driving disco, psychedelic, new wave, punk, hard rock, and so one!

Example:

  • New Order

  • Led Zeppelin

  • Depeche Mode

  • Linkin Park

  • K.I.S.S.

  • The Cure

  • The Bloodhound Gang

  • Billy Idol

  • Johnny Cash

  • Black Sabbath

  • Green Day

  • Cage the Elephant

  • The Doors

  • Neil Young

  • ...and many more!

What makes this so interesting?

This full-on Rock Band uses the Accordion as its cornerstone!
In addition to offering a refreshing sound, the natural acoustic Accordion also plays the part of the Organ {The Animals, etc.} or Harmonica {Tom Petty, etc.}, or Synthesizer {Flock of Seagulls, etc.}

Instruments - What do they play.

Not always, but rather depending on venue and situation, the instrumentation may consist of:

  • Drums & Percussion

  • Electric Guitar

  • Synthesizer Bass

  • Accordion

  • Vocals: Baritone

The Band Members:

Aaron Northcutt – Electric Guitar

Filling out the Band with a wall of sound and creating extremely interesting “face melting” solos! All of this shredding creates an awesome Heavy Metal atmosphere!
Using a Digital Guitar Amp. Modeling Simulator for tonal flexibility, to choose instantaneously whether to play through a “Marshall Stack” or a “Fender Twin Reverb”. Great tone at any volume.

Dave Mackey – Drums

Providing the “Heartbeat” of the band, he performs with a fantastic feel..
Audience interaction and other nuances make him fun to watch!

Gerhard Albinus – Accordion, Vocals, & Synthesizer Bass

Playing and Singing with full command and control!
Providing what is best, whether rapid fire notes, full chord pads, solos, it is all present!
He sings in the baritone range with powerful purpose and energy!
The sonic texture provided by the Accordion is natural for this and many genres. Singing Johnny Cash, Billy Idol, K.I.S.S., Steppenwolf, the Animals, etc.

How did they form?

The soloist, Gerhard Albinus always wanted a full on Rock Band. Circumstances would always derail that in one way or another. Playing for different venues, bands, etc.
Then once again, Gerhard, had the opportunity to change course. Firstly, he wanted to enhance his Solo performances. He was looking for a better Drum Machine, etc. After much frustration, he was enlightened by his wife who said, “You love live Drums, why don't you just hire a drummer and book Gigs with that in mind?” Needless to say, the rest is history.

How the Trio became aware of Ty Holiday.

Along with always wanting live drums, Gerhard always wanted a solid "in the pocket" Bassist. Again, situations and circumstances never worked out to have that happen. Therefore, the trio relied on Gerhard to play Synthesizer Bass via an electronic connection from his Accordion. It worked, the trio was booked, etc. They were content to merrily go along as a trio.
Then on Sunday August 15, 2021. The Belle and the Bear, a Montgomery (Cincinnati), Ohio music venue posted a previous stage show on their Facebook Page. Ty Holiday was the Bassist in that group of musicians. Ty's incredible mastery of the instrument created such an interest amongst the current trio members. They had to inquiry for more information about this person.
Independently, Eric, Aaron, and Gerhard saw this Facebook post and started to respond with the post.
Gerhard reached out to Ty to see if there was interest. Eric and Aaron did as well.
Ty responded back favorably and was sent a two hour set list. Thinking Ty would just select a song or two for the initial rehearsal on Wednesday August 25th, 2021 at 7:00pm at Eric's house.
To their collective sheer amazement, Ty practically learned the entire two hour set list! It was unbelievable. Not only did Ty learn the set list, but was a pleasure to be around. The chemistry clicked immediately. That upcoming Saturday October 28, 2021 from 8:00pm to 11:00pm, they already had a Trio Gig booked in Hamilton, Ohio, North Second Tap & Bottle Shop, was the first one for Ty to join, creating the Quartet.

Ty Holiday's last performance with the Gerhard Albinus Band was on Saturday October 1, 2022, from 9:00pm to 1:00am, at Froggy's, 10 American Way in Monroe, Ohio..

This will allow Ty to focus and pursue personal, creative, technical, and musical endeavors.

We all enjoyed performing with Ty Holiday and wish the best!
